Maine People’s Alliance is a 501(c)(4) group that trains activists and organizers to push for ballot initiatives, lobby elected officials, and support lawsuits to advance social justice and civil rights causes. MPA has over 32,000 members across the state with offices in Bangor, Portland, and Lewiston. The organization was founded in 1982 and incorporated in 1983. They celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2022. As seen on their website, the MPA is currently working towards reform on “immigrant rights, tax fairness, compassionate drug policy reform, worker rights, and expanded access to affordable housing, health care, and child care” for Mainers. You can get involved in their work by joining lobbying groups, participating in campaign committees, or making monetary donations.
